NOBILIS comes from the Latin word Nobile, meaning ‘distinguished’ or “in good taste”. In 1928, Adolphe Halard, founder of the company, opened a boutique under this name at 29 rue Bonaparte in Paris, between the church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the fine arts school, Ecole des Beaux Arts. By surrounding himself with renowned painters such as Suzanna Fontan, he began designing collections of wallpapers and fabrics which express the emotion of contemporary artists: the Nobilis spirit was born.

NOBILIS quickly became internationally known for the quality and upscale finish of its products and services. Today, thanks to its subsidiaries and a network of some 200 associates in Europe, the United States, and the Middle East, NOBILIS markets its products throughout the world.
